Special education services are provided to over 1600 eligible students with disabilities from the ages of 3 years through the end of the school year in which students become 22 unless it is determined by a case conference committee that a student will exit earlier.

The district provides a full range of academic, behavioral, and related supports and services. Most students attend their home school and are educated with their non-disabled peers as much as appropriate. In addition, to the services and programs that are in place at each school, the district provides a continuum of services for students with significant cognitive disabilities and behavioral challenges.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Destruction of Physical Special Education Records


The MSD of Washington Township Department of Student Services maintains limited hard-copy items pertaining to special education for five (5) years following the completion of the activity for which the records were created. The department hereby announces its intent to destroy physical special education records that were developed to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) or Non-Public School services in MSD of Washington Township. These records will be destroyed the summer after meeting the following criteria AND the expiration of the five-year retention period:

  • Determined Ineligible for Special Education services
  • Dismissed from Special Education Services
  • Withdrew from MSD of Washington Township
  • Withdrew from a Non-Public School within MSD Washington Township OR parent elected Non-Public School to be Provider of Services (through Choice Scholarship Education Plan (CSEP) or Education Scholarship Account (ESA)
  • Graduated from MSD of Washington Township
  • Earned a certificate of completion and exited MSD of Washington Township

 
This notice is in compliance with federal, state and local policies. These records will be destroyed as they are no longer needed for educational planning purposes. A parent who is a legal guardian or student (18 years old or older) may request records prior to destruction by contacting the Student Services Records Office at (317) 845-9400. You will be required to produce identification or provide verification data to acquire these records.
